§ 27.10. Lotteries.

  • No person shall set up, promote or conduct any lottery for money, property or thing of value; or, by means of a lottery dispose of any money, property or thing of value; or conduct any lottery drawing for the distribution by lot or chance, or advertise any such lottery scheme or device in any newspaper or by circular, poster, pamphlet or otherwise; or sell, offer for sale or transmit by mail or otherwise, any lottery ticket or coupon, or share in or fractional part of any lottery ticket, coupon or share, whether such ticket, coupon or share represents an interest in a live lottery not yet played, or whether it represents or has represented, an interest in a lottery that has already been played; or attempt to operate, conduct or advertise any lottery scheme or device; or have in his possession any lottery wheel, implement or device whatsoever designed or intended for use, or used, in conducting any lottery or scheme for the disposal by lot or chance of any property or anything of value; or have in his possession any lottery ticket, or evidence of any share or right in any lottery ticket, or in any lottery scheme or device, whether such ticket or evidence of share or right represents an interest in a live lottery not yet played or whether it represents, or has represented, an interest in a lottery that has already been played; or have in his possession any lottery advertisement, circular, poster or pamphlet, or any list or schedule of any lottery prize, gift or drawing; or aid or assist in the setting up or conducting of any lottery, either by writing, printing or otherwise; or be interested in, or connected in any way with, any lottery or lottery drawing; or, aid or assist in the sale, disposal or procurement of any lottery ticket, coupon, share or right to any drawing therein, or in the payment or delivery of any prize or award resulting from a lottery or drawing. The word "lottery" shall include bolita, policy, numbers and the like by whatsoever name known.
