§ 2.120. General Provisions Relating to Boards—Terms of Office; Mandatory Resignation.
(1)
Except as may be otherwise specifically provided by general or special law, citizen members of boards shall serve terms of two (2) years; provided, however, the initial appointments to Boards made pursuant to this article shall be staggered for terms not to exceed two (2) years. All terms shall expire on the last day of the month in which the two (2) year term ends.
(2)
In keeping with the City's policy of encouraging diversification and maximum citizen participation, except as otherwise provided in City Code and for Municipal Planning Board and Historic Preservation Board members who shall be eligible to serve three two-year terms, citizen members of a Board shall not serve more than two (2) consecutive terms unless good cause is shown why additional service is necessary as recommended by the Board Chairman, appointed official having administrative responsibility for the Board, and the Nominating Board, subject to approval by the Mayor. Citizen members initially appointed to fill a Board position with an unexpired term may serve the remainder of that term plus two (2) consecutive terms, should they be reappointed.
(3)
A citizen Board member shall resign from the Board upon qualification as a candidate for an elective City of Orlando office.
(4)
Board members serve at the convenience of the City and, upon recommendation of the Board Chairman or of the Nominating Board, may be removed by the Mayor at any time with concurrence by the City Council.
