Multiplex standards of this Part are intended to conserve the general character of
established neighborhoods which have developed as a mixture of single family dwelling
units, duplexes, and small apartment buildings of 3 to 8 dwelling units. New development
shall maintain the prevailing bulk, height, and general design of the surrounding
structures and buildings. This type has the appearance of a medium-sized single family
home or multiple small-scale structures and is appropriately scaled to fit within
primarily single-family neighborhoods or into medium-density neighborhoods. This type
enables appropriately-scaled, well-designed higher densities and is important for
providing a broad choice of housing types and promoting infill development.
