§ 61.300. Purpose of Off-Street Parking Requirements.

The off-street parking requirements of this Part are intended to provide minimum standards necessary for the parking needs of the various uses permitted by this Chapter and specify appropriate design and location for parking. Additionally, the requirements also protect the capacity of the City's street system and avoid undue congestion on those streets, support the creation of walkable communities, and lessen unnecessary conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians. Methods are also provided to encourage the use of bicycles and mass transit in order to reduce potential demand for off-street parking.
