§ 62.200. Certificate of Appropriateness Required.

After the designation of an historic district, no exterior portion of any building
or other structure, (other than buildings or structures owned by churches or other
religious institutions and exempt from property taxes), nor above-ground utility structure
nor any type of outdoor advertising sign shall be erected, altered, restored, or moved
within such district until after an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness
as to exterior features has been submitted to and approved by the Historic Preservation
Board, as provided in Chapter 65, Part 4B, or approved by the City Council upon appeal from a decision of the Board.
After the designation of an Historic Preservation Overlay District, no building or
other structure shall be demolished within such district until after an application
for a Certificate of Appropriateness as to exterior features has been submitted to
and approved by the Historic Preservation Board, as provided in Chapter 65, Part 4B, or approved by the City Council upon appeal from a decision of the Board.
