Chapter 62. HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN |

§ 62.402. East Washington Street Special Plan.
PURPOSE
The East Washington Street Special Plan is intended to achieve the following design objectives:
-
supplement the standards set forth in the Activity Center Concept to allow neighborhood-serving commercial activities in a defined area;
-
provide for appropriate land uses adjacent to Howard Middle School;
-
provide for adequate transitions and screening between commercial, office and residential uses in the area.

ADDITIONAL PERMITTED ACTIVITIES
O-1 District. In order to encourage neighborhood-serving activities, the following uses shall be conditional uses in the O-1 District:
Parking as a Principal Use.
Any similar use as determined by the Planning Official.
DESIGN PLAN
Streets and Parkways. In order to ensure that the streets and parkways in the East Washington Street business district are of uniform design, the following standards shall apply:
a.
The street pavement shall be brick, and shall not be patched with any other paving material.
b.
The curbs shall be Type "B" (straight curb), as set forth in Section 62.3175 of this Chapter.
c.
The street trees shall be Cherry Laurel (Prunus caroliniana), and shall be located as shown in Figure 36. The parkways shall be sodded.
