§ 54-2. Same—Requirements of Railroad Companies.
For the protection of the railroads and the public at railroad crossings of public streets within the City of Orlando, said City, by ordinance of its governing body, is authorized to establish reasonable and uniform requirements upon all railroad companies operating locomotives or railway trains within or through the City of Orlando, and such requirements may place upon said railroad companies the duty and obligation to:
(a)
Provide, maintain and operate, during such hours and at such railroad crossings of public streets within the City of Orlando, Florida, as the governing body of said City shall deem necessary, flagmen or safety gates or lighted signals to give notice of the approach upon said crossings of locomotives or other equipment moving on the railway tracks; or, at the option of the railroad company,
(b)
Cause each locomotive or other equipment moving on the railway tracks, during the aforesaid hours, to come to a full stop before entering upon the aforesaid railroad crossings of public streets, and to be preceded across said crossings by some person whose duty it shall be to give notice of the approach upon said crossings of such locomotive or other equipment.
