§ 61.262. Street Name Signs.
Street signs showing the names of all intersecting streets shall be erected at each intersection, by the City for the developer at his expense. All signs shall be of a type being used in the City and shall require approval of the Public Works Director. No sign indicating the name of a street may be erected near to or on any street or private roadway until such name of the street or private roadway has been registered with and approved by the Public Works Director and the right-of-way department of Orange County; but such signs shall be installed prior to the occupancy of the first dwelling unit.
If the developer wishes to purchase and erect street name signs, prior approval of the City Traffic Operations Engineer is required and the signs must conform to City standards, including but not limited to size, shape, color, design, numbering system, block designation, direction designation, and installation method. The developer/owner/contractor shall submit the following to the Bureau of Transportation Engineering for approval, prior to ordering or purchasing the signs:
(a)
street names, block numbers;
(b)
directional data;
(c)
site plan showing street locations;
(d)
verification of Bureau of Engineering approval of all the above.
Street Numbers. No street number shall be designated by the City of Orlando for any individual location along any street or private roadway until such time as the street or private roadway has been registered with the City and County as required above.
