§ 61.314. Pedestrian Walkways.
Pedestrian walkways that traverse parking facilities serving non-residential, office and multi-family residential development, shall meet the following:
(a)
Pedestrian walkways shall be a minimum of 5 feet wide and be designed to provide direct connections between all building entrances, adjacent rights-of-way, transit stops, and outparcels. Walkways abutting drive aisles shall be a minimum of 6 feet wide. Walkways in front of perpendicular parking stalls shall be a minimum of 7 feet wide. All pedestrian walkways shall be ADA compliant.
(b)
A minimum of one landscaped pedestrian walkway through parking lots shall be provided for every five head to head parking rows, except where an alternative arrangement is approved as part of a master plan.
(c)
Landscaped pedestrian walkways through parking lots shall have a minimum width of 13.5 feet, including a minimum of 6 feet in width for the pedestrian path, and a minimum of 7.5 feet in width for the landscape. Landscape may be provided on one side of the walkway or be divided in two strips, each having a minimum width of 3.5 feet. All unpaved areas within pedestrian walkways shall have a 100% landscape coverage in accordance with Chapter 60, Orlando City Code, and shall conform to the tree spacing requirements provided therein. Shade structures, including pergolas or gazebos, may be substituted for canopy trees within landscape pedestrian walkways.
(d)
All building sites shall provide one pedestrian walkway to provide a direct connection from the main pedestrian entrance of any anchor tenant, principal building, or multi-family leasing office to each sidewalk along the perimeter of the development site, unless waived by the Transportation Official.
(e)
Crosswalks connecting pedestrian walkways across parking lot drive aisles shall be designed and constructed to appear visually distinct from the adjacent driving surface through the use of colored or textured concrete. All crosswalks shall be ADA compliant.
