§ 62.632. Purpose of Design Standards.

Latest version.
  • The Auto-oriented Mixed Use Corridor District is intended to be urban in form and character. Although these Districts are oriented to automobile use, the image or view from the road shall reflect the positive design characteristics typical of Orlando's Traditional City commercial areas: compact buildings of similar mass and scale that form a street edge or wall. Also, the image should act as a transition between the vehicular activity on the roadway and the pedestrian nature of the mixed office, residential and commercial land uses. Because of the vehicular orientation of the street, a limited portion of parking shall be allowed in front of the buildings. The streetwall, therefore, shall form behind the front yard parking. Buildings in the District shall be oriented to the Front Street. Provisions shall be made for pedestrian access so that the character is interpreted as pedestrian by both automobile and pedestrian users.

The following standards shall apply to all uses except one and two family dwellings in mixed use corridor districts outside the Traditional City.
