§ 65.121. ARB Duties, Powers, and Responsibilities.

Review applications.
The primary duty of the ARB is to review applications for certificates of appearance
approval and recommend to Council whether to approve, approve with conditions, or
deny such applications.
Provide advice.
When requested by Council, the MPB, the Planning Official, the DDB, the CRA, or other
City official or board, the ARB should provide advice regarding the appearance of
development within the ARB's jurisdiction. The ARB should also review proposed land
development regulations relating to the appearance of development within the ARB's
jurisdiction and advise the MPB whether such proposed regulations are consistent with
generally accepted principles of urban planning and design and applicable provisions
of adopted City planning, design, and appearance guidance documents.
Meetings.
Regular meetings of the ARB may be held no more than once per calendar month. The
Executive Secretary is responsible for scheduling regular meetings and also for establishing
fixed deadlines for the submission of completed applications. The Executive Secretary
should issue a schedule of the regular ARB meetings and respective application submission
deadlines for the forthcoming calendar year by November 1 of each year. Special meetings
may be called by the Executive Secretary.
