§ 27.07. Betting on Elections, etc.
No person shall stake, bet or wage any money, property or thing of value upon the result of any election, trial, contest of skill, speed, power or endurance of man, beast, vehicle, boat or airplane, or of any uncertain or dubious event; provided, however, that this section shall not make unlawful the award of prizes for actual competitions in athletic or scholastic contests where the same is otherwise permitted by law or ordinance, or by permits granted by the City Council, or under its authority.
